Laurence Smith.

16 Dudley Crescent, Leith, Midlothian.

Died 19th November 1915, testate.

Confirmation granted at Edinburgh 18th January 1916 to Jessie Johnstone Liston or Smith , 16 Dudley Gardens , aforsaid, his widow.

Executrix nominated in Will or Deed dated 7th April 1901 and recorded in Court Books or Commissaries of Edinburgh.

 

17th January 1916.

Value of estate  £3044.19.04d.

LAURENCE SMITH. 17TH JANUARY 1916.

In the event of my death I leave to my wife Jessie Johnstone Liston , all shares which I may hold ,or become possessed of in the Leith, Hull & Hamburg Steam Packet Co., Ltd., together with my half interest (held jointly with my sister  Ann Helen Smith or West) in the stock of the National Bank of Scotland Ltd., also my Life Insurance Policy and all other money’s I may have for the benefit of my wife during life , thereafter to be held in trust for the equal benefit of our children , George Liston Smith, Helen Booth Smith, Laurence Smith and Bruce Gordon Smith.

I appoint my said wife to be my Executrix.

Given under my hand this seventh day of April 1901 at 16 Dudley Gardens.

At Leith the sixth day of December 1915 in the presence of  Malcolm McDonald esq., one of His Majesty’s Justices of the Peace for the County of Midlothian , compeared, James Currie, shipowner, Leith and Adam Dow Pearson , residing at 150 Montgomery Street, Edinburgh , who being solemnly sworn and examined defous – that they are well acquainted  with the handwriting of the deceased, Laurence  Smith, who resided at 16 Dudley Gardens , Leith, and have seen and examined the foregoing Will and that to the best of their knowledge and belief the same is entirely in the proper handwriting of the said Laurence Smith.

All which is true as the deponents shall answer to God.

Edinburgh 6th January 1916.

This is the holograph will of the late Laurence Smith, 16 Dudley Gardens, Leith , referred to in the Affidavit to the Inventory of the personal estate of the said Laurence Smith.
